If you have several photos you would like displayed on your
website, and have them in electronic format already (digital camera
or computer) you can save some money by having all the photos in as
few sizes as possible. A good size to start with is 640 pixels wide
x 480 high. Most photos need to be scaled down to fit on web pages,
but if they are odd sizes, the scaling down becomes very time
consuming if the dimensions vary.
If the dimensions do vary, you will have photos of different sizes
on your page, which do not fit well and make the page look less
appealing than if they were all the same size. Or, it will become
costier to have them scaled to perportion, and in the process, they
will likely need to be cropped. I would rather have you do the
cropping - you know exactly what content of each picture you could
live without, but I would be guessing.
Photos sent should be in jpg
format and if you
painstakinginly rename them, please
no
spaces, or special characters* in the names - I only remove those
anyway, which again, adds to cost.
Photos should be sent in batches - all photos that belong on one
page should be sent in one e-mail (unless they all make the message
too big - in which case, more than one e-mail, but referring to the
same page).
*(#@&
etc. are special characters. Dashes (-) and underscores (_) and
alpha numeric characters are all that are allowed, and file
names must
not exceed
32 characters, including the file extension.)
