The first thing you will need to do after you decide you want a website is to plan it!

You need to decide what message it is you want to get across to your audience, who that audience is, and how to reach it. You need to carefully think about what you want displayed on your site, and how it will look. The most difficult part of our job is understanding the ideas our customers have and getting the content of their proposed site from them, so please put lots of thought into it and have some ideas for us to work with! It is often helpful to visit the sites of your competitors for ideas.

You will likely want to have some pictures of your business, your wares, or examples of services you have done (like a room you have designed if you are an interior decorator, for example).

You may want to post a history of your company, or a map of how to locate you, if you have a retail outlet that folks will need in order to find you. It is important for you to compile all this information for us - we cannot do that for you, all we can do is assemble it and turn it into a nice website for you.

HINT: Check out your competitors' websites to get ideas for yours - but do not copy their ideas!

For your convenience, we can offer a private 'live preview' of what your site looks like published on the web, as the work progresses, but only you (and anyone you give the web address to) will see it until it is ready for the World Wide Web, and your customers to view. Please ask for your private viewing address when you speak to our sales consultant. It will be posted on my draft site called
Peg's Pen.
